At Seven o'clock on Monday evening of April 21st 2011 was the opening ceremony of the 7th Aljazeera international documentary film festival with its new logo "Dialogue", starting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Al Jazeera network," Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani. who opened the festival officially and said that the logo of the festival this year has been chosen as a result of the recent world revolutions which was a reason for the lack of dialogues between the citizens and the presidents who dominate the regions and control people's liberty. Then Mr. Abbas Arnaut Director of the festival started by talking about the loyalty and giving an example of the recent death of the Qatari cameraman "Ali Aljaber" who was killed in Libya around one month ago and also Arnaout hailed Al Jaber devotion, dedication and commitment to the cause of media, bringing to light images of war and conflict and sometimes peace. After that three Media men who were detained while they were doing there duties and recently released were also honored at the event. The festival film called (Cairo down town) which was done one year before Egypt revolution displaying the miserable life in Egypt and how they were suffering ,because they do not own a right to express their feelings, criticizing the government and event to use their blogs to write anything against the regulations.
